Conference day · step by step

What is on this site, and how to use it

SQUARE is an education programme and a toolset. The trainer finds the ready session plan, materials and activities here, and runs them face to face with young people. Each card below opens a section of the site. Everyone can follow the same order — first why it exists, then what kind of training it is, then today’s session.

    Why does this site exist?

This site was written for a gap. The coordinator ran an “EU Citizenship” survey with 600 young people aged 14–18. 64% said they do not know their European citizenship rights; 72% said they do not know the shared European culture. Many young people use apps, but they do not know the rights, duties and shared values that make a citizen. The 600, 64% and 72% cards on the home page show that need. If someone at the conference asks “why this programme?”, the answer is here: the education kit was written to close this gap. Press this card to open the home page where the figures sit.

What kind of training is this?

A ready session programme sits here. A trainer, teacher or youth worker runs a 90–120 minute face-to-face session in the same room with 15–25 young people. Young people do not only listen: they talk, discuss and put a European practice on the table together. Each of the eight modules is that kind of session. The plan waits on the site; you open it, take the materials and run the group. Press this card to open the list of eight sessions.

    The project and the kit

SQUARE is the education programme and toolset of the DCCEC project. DCCEC stands for Digital Citizenship Culture in European Community. This site’s job is PR3 — the EU Citizenship Education Module / Toolkit. The page says what the project is, who it is for and how it is used. If someone at the conference asks “what is this site?”, this page answers. The official project site is dcciec.com; this site is the delivery desk where the trainer runs the session. Press this card to open the about page.

    The education framework

The programme stands on three legs. First, European citizenship: rights, duties and shared democratic values. Second, digital citizenship: identity, safety, privacy, media and ethics. Third, active participation: young people entering decisions, e-democracy and intercultural dialogue. The eight sessions were written on these three legs. The five citizenship pillars (C1–C5) are the field map; the real education spine is the eight modules. Press this card to open the framework page. There you see clearly why these three legs matter.

    Eight teaching modules

This is the heart of the programme. There are eight ready sessions, M1 to M8. Each card holds the duration, group size, aim, session plan, materials and a European practice. You open today’s session from here and run it with the group. M1 opens with European values. M2–M6 take digital citizenship: identity, literacy, disinformation, safety, ethics. M7 is democracy and participation; M8 closes with intercultural dialogue. The eight cards also sit below; press one and that session opens. This card opens the full list.

    Five citizenship pillars

The partners’ field areas are C1–C5. C1 social citizenship (Hatay), C2 digital and economic (the Netherlands), C3 cultural (North Macedonia), C4 environmental (Söke), C5 civic and democratic citizenship (North Macedonia). This is the map of the LTTA mobilities. Each pillar holds purpose, content, process and evaluation. The modules answer “what do we teach today?”; the pillars answer “which citizenship door did we enter?”. Read the two together. Press this card to open the five pillars. The five cards below also open that pillar.

    Field practices

The topic did not stay on paper. It was tried with young people, trainers and clubs in the partner countries. Practices sit here from Hatay to the Netherlands, from Söke to North Macedonia. This page is how we say “we did this in the field”. Open a practice and you see that country’s work, which pillar it belongs to and how to use it. If someone at the conference asks “is this only text?”, this page answers. Press this card to open the field practices.

  8. 08 Toolset

    The toolset

There are four doors for building the session. The activity bank: cards, scenarios, discussion — work you can do with the group tomorrow morning. The participant workbook: worksheets and notes. The e-library: country e-books, chapters and the PDF. The plan helper: choose duration and setting, then print a plan. The module answers “what do we teach?”; the toolset answers “what do I have in my hand?”. Press this card to open the page with the four doors. The doors also sit a little lower; press one and that tool opens.

  9. 09 Assessment

    Assessment

This is how you see what changed before and after the session. The pre and post test, the 100-question survey and the badges sit here. Assessment is part of the programme, not decoration. “We told them” is not enough: you also look at what young people understood. If someone in the conference or the classroom asks “did they learn?”, this page is used. You can open the test at the start and at the end of the session. Press this card to open the assessment tools.

    Train the trainer

The trainer is prepared first; then the session runs with the group. Train the trainer (ToT) is how the programme is multiplied: one person learns, then runs it to the same quality with many groups. The aim is to carry the same session quality in every country. Here you see how the trainer prepares and how they carry the session. If someone at the conference asks “who will deliver this?”, the answer is here: ToT first, then the eight modules. Press this card to open the train-the-trainer page.
