Carbon footprint

Söke e-book scenario 1: students calculate a personal and household carbon footprint and compare it with the class and with EU–global averages. Close: a Carbon Summit and a vote on one collective pledge. This session is the short classroom form of that scenario.

Materials

  • A calculation sheet

Steps

  1. 1

Mark a personal or household footprint roughly. A calculator is not required.

  2. 2

Compare with the class pattern. Name an EU or global average if you have one.

  3. 3

Vote one collective pledge (the Carbon Summit).

Inclusion

Numbers are not required; a ranking is enough. Paper is enough if there is no device.

At the end of the session

Hand in a short personal note and the class pledge.

Home task

The family may talk about one household habit; no number is required.
